Epicore Biosystems recently raised a notable Series B funding round and was looking to amplify the news with several different audiences—investors, large enterprise corporations, sports and fitness companies, and healthcare decision-makers. Creating the News Moment

What could have been a standard funding announcement needed to become something more. Given the current media landscape, the BAM team knew they needed to craft a compelling narrative that would capture media attention. 

The strategy centered on leveraging existing relationships to secure an exclusive with a journalist who had previously covered Epicore in a climate series. However, the media landscape is never straightforward. The initial outreach faced competition from breaking news about Trump's policies and the LA fires.

Persevering through the ‘No’ 

Rather than pivot to alternative targets, the team doubled down on their preferred journalist. They enhanced the pitch by highlighting potential additions to the story: new corporate investors and an exclusive Super Bowl product launch involving Gatorade/Pepsi. 

While Epicore's broader impact and potential in an era of increasing climate challenges is apparent, to compete with the other news stories of the moment, the team needed to showcase more. 

This approach paid off – within six minutes of the enhanced pitch, the journalist expressed renewed interest.

Turning Persistence into Results

The exclusive coverage exceeded expectations, resulting in 22 additional pieces of coverage, across trade and top-tier outlets, including features in Axios and syndication in POLITICO E&E. The comprehensive coverage achieved exactly what Epicore needed: substantial visibility and momentum for the industry.
